Hooray for HollyWOOF

Red Carpet Rundown covered the Dogs for the Deaf and Generation Rescue fundraiser Hooray for HollyWOOF on August 4th.  The event was chaired by animal-lover extraordinaire Betty White.

Dogs for the Deaf trains and subsequently pairs shelter rescue dogs with people around the United States who live with a variety of challenges.  This wonderful organization performs their work at no fee to the people they service.

Each year, Generation Rescue helps more than 25,000 autistic people and their family members with everything from medical assistance to education.  Many of these families benefit from the dogs that Dogs for the Deaf train and place.

It's a wonderful synergy between two great non-profit organizations!

Challenge Met!

At the Night of 100 Stars Oscar party in February, actor Ken Davitian (Borat, The Artist, Get Smart) promised Red Carpet Rundown host Zoe Hewitt hot dogs at The Infield, his hot dog stand, if she showed up.  Ken didn't believe she would.

Zoe rose to the challenge and brought the All Around cameras to document her meal with Ken as the two discussed the stand, inside stories from his famous naked fight scene in Borat: Cultural Learnings of America... and the Armenian genocide.

At the LA Jazz Society's Annual Dinner and Concert, Zoe Hewitt spoke with the organization's president, Flip Manne, and many of the honorees for All Around.

Fun fact: Flip Manne was one of the early Rockettes! Although she doesn't do the high kicks anymore, she still tap dances several times a week!

The Gentle Barn

The Gentle Barn is an inspirational animal sanctuary in Santa Clarita, California. Ellie Laks started the nonprofit organization in 1999 when she began rescuing animals from children's petting zoos.

Now, The Gentle Barn is a safe haven for all types of animals: cows, horses, chickens, pigs, to name a few. Ellie, and her partner Jay Weiner, care for the animals along with volunteers and staff members. The animals at The Gentle Barn will never have to worry about abuse at the hands of humans ever again. The Grilled Cheese Truck

Zoe Hewitt and the All Around team met up with the Grilled Cheese Truck in Eagle Rock. This amazing truck travels around town (and is available for private events!) with all the delicious grilled cheesy goodness you could ever want; it was Grilled Cheese Paradise!

The Bunny Museum

All Around's cameras visited the world-famous Bunny museum in Pasadena. Owner and founder Candace Frazee couldn't have been nicer while showing our host, Zoe Hewitt, and a group young girls around. Her bunny collection--shared with her husband, Steve Lubanski--is recognized by the Guiness Book of World Records for being the largest in the world.

Candace talked to us about the museum's history, bunny care and her second book which will hit shelves (and Amazon.com) in May.
